夏越の大祓 Ohharai
An event to clean the sin and impurity. It was be performed in June on the last day of the month of the lunar calendar. Many human substitutes (Hitogata) are gathered from the whole country to clean up the sin and impurity and passed to the sea. It means cleaning the sin of people who send substitutes to us. |

秋季大祭 (みあれ祭) Autumn Festival (Miare-sai)
The festival has been held for many years. This is the festival to thank to the god for peace in the nation and harvest of crops and fisheries. First of all, Miare-sai takes place. Miare-sai is the event to invite and welcome the goddesses from Nakatsu-Miya and Okitsu-Miya to Hetsu-Miya. The traditional dance is dedicated to the goddesses of the shrine at Hetsu-Miya Honden. |

西日本菊花大会 Nishinihon Kikkataikai
About three thousand chrysanthemums are displayed that are gathered from the Kyushu district and the Yamaguchi prefecture. There are many kind of plants displayed: large flowers, dwarfed trees (Bonsai), and so on. The festival is biggest chrysanthemum festival in west of Japan (there are many chrysanthemum festival in Japan). |
