| (1)When you visit the shrine, first, you may straighten your clothes at the Torii, gate of shrine, and bow once then enter the precincts.
(2)Second, rinse your hands and mouth at Temizuya. To rinse your mouth and hands your mind may be freshened.
How to rinse hands and mouth
Hold a dipper on the right hand and ladle water then rinse the left hand.
Next, shift the dipper from right hand to the left and follow same step as before.
Hold the dipper on the right hand again and ladle water into the left hand. rinse the mouth with that water. (getting water to the mouth directly from dipper is wrong way)
After rinse the mouth, rinse the left hand again. Lastly, rinse the grip of dipper (ladle water then stand dipper to let water flow the grip). Put the dipper as before. |
